Why is there a need for food in Brazil?
Food insecurity affects as many as 7.5 million people, nearly 13% of Brazil's population. Most of them are in the urban areas where megalopolis conditions exist. Meaning the growth of the city was unplanned and difficult to sustain, therefore, the infrastructure cannot meet the basic demands for the needs of the people. Working wages do not meet the basic needs of the citizens in these areas, creating chronic poverty cycles that include dangerously high crime rates and very little sense of community pride. Food security helps foster a sense of hope and prevents crime from occuring that is for survival.
Empowering communities through action
Our programs are designed to benefit the most vulnerable members of the community, helping them gain empowerment skills through volunteer opportunities. By providing supplies for community projects, we help change the poverty mindset from powerless to empowered, fostering dignity and growth.
We offer a variety of specialized programs designed to address both the immediate and future needs of the community. Our approach emphasizes understanding challenges and providing practical, effective solutions that genuinely make a difference.
Basic Food Boxes
Our Basic Food Boxes feed a family of four, providing essential nourishment to those facing food insecurity. These boxes are non-perishable food items.
Community Health Classes
We teach Community Health Classes to promote good hygiene and safe food-keeping practices, fostering healthier communities. We partner with nurses and local doctors and offer free screening for blood pressure and blood sugar.
Cleaning Products for families in need.
It's hard to imagine going without dish soap or laundry soap for most people. In Brazil, it is not uncommon for people tp knock on the door and simply ask for soap, because they have been out of it for weeks.
Family Park Services: Transforming Spaces
Our Park Services program renovates neglected trash lots into vibrant parks and safe places for children to play. We believe that safe, clean environments are fundamental to the well-being and development of every community, fostering a sense of pride and belonging. Children develop a sense of what a healthy community looks like. When they can run freely and use up their enegry they are much happier and so are their families, who were previously unable to allow their children to play outside.
Addressing Urgent Needs
Our programs are also specifically designed to solve urgent community needs when necessary. Floods and other disasters occur due to the tropical nature of the climate. These donations help replace broken roof tiles, stop leaking water cisterns, and repair storm damage! Mold and pest removal is essential where there is flooding present, or disease and infection can spread quickly. Our cargo truck delivers the necessities to the affected neighborhoods, making relief possible quickly!
